They believed life would be an endless high. Intoxicated by bliss, they never saw the fall coming. But it did. Dreams and fantasies floated in the air as they crumbled.

After it was over, they found themselves missing pieces. The mourned and they swore it would never happen again. But they kept collapsing. The first time didn’t hurt as much as the last.

They asked around, looking for a way to end this. The verdict was ruthless. They needed to sacrifice their most treasured possession, their humanity. Life was being cruel, asking them to be cruel too.

And they were for a while. They wore their finest outfits as armor. They covered their wounds with long laughs and selfies. They carried themselves as though they were the only ones who mattered. They had cracked the code. Until the next downfall came, and it was all it took for their apathy to crack.

Surrounded by many others, scarred with flaws, they finally saw it. The collective beauty of finding the way back up. It was never about the fall, but the resurrection.
